Forgotten Patriots: Meet our Distinguished Authors

The historical account of the American Revolution is often told through the lens of the military officers, and the men who formed the Continental Congress. In the archives of history, countless tales of valor and sacrifice remain untold. Beneath these stories are the accounts of unsung heroes, the Forgotten Patriots – Americans of African and Indigenous descent who are the heartbeat of our nation's story. They are the uncelebrated warriors, visionaries, and trailblazers who, though often overlooked, played an indispensable role in shaping the destiny of our nation.

The Society of the First African Families of English America will be publishing a series of books in a tribute to those unheralded individuals and their extraordinary contributions to the forging of a new nation. It is a collective effort by a diverse group of authors, all bound by a common thread — they are descendants of these Forgotten Patriots.

Through their collective efforts, our authors will breath life into these forgotten stories, offering a fresh perspective on the diverse mosaic that is the American experience. They have combed through archives, letters, diaries, and oral histories, meticulously piecing together the fragments of stories long relegated to obscurity and to American history.
