National Minority Health History Month

The Society of the First African Families of English America embraces  National Minority Health Month - a time to raise awareness about the health disparities affecting racial and ethnic minority communities and to promote health equity for all. This month is about taking action: encouraging prevention, improving access to care, and amplifying the voices of individuals and communities that have been historically underserved. Together, we can build a healthier, more inclusive future. Please join us in supporting awareness, education, and advocacy throughout the month of April!

SOFAFEA will announce at its 2025 Conference
our major America 250 initiatives.

America 250 is a nationwide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. Organized by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, it aims to celebrate America’s history, honor its diverse communities, and inspire civic engagement. The initiative includes events, educational programs, and community projects across the country to reflect on our nation’s past, present, and future.

The Society of the First African Families of English America in collaboration with our Regional Vice Presidents and our partners will be providing monthly events throughout the nation in 2026, and hope you will join us.

Get started early by keeping up to date on our current activities in promoting
the heroic deeds of our ancestors and America’s Forgotten Patriots.

America's Forgotten Patriots

The story of America's Forgotten Patriots started on the village green in Lexington, Massachusetts.

The Black Patriots of Lexington is a nine-part series where Sean D. Osborne has conversations with acclaimed historians, reenactors and educators to provide insights into 11 Black patriots who played significant roles in the American Revolution. Five of those heroic patriots were active combatants on April 19, 1775.  The Society of the First African Families of English America embraces this wonderful series and encourages you to watch it with your children, grandchildren or in a classroom or community center. To watch the series.
