In celebration of our nation’s semiquincentennial, the Society of the First African Families of English America has launched a comprehensive Five Star America 250 Program, designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Our comprehensive five year America 250 Program encourages members to engage in five key areas: (1) Education; (2) Historic Preservation; (3) Patriotic Service; (4) Membership Growth and (5) Community Outreach.
Through lectures, restoration projects, veteran support, youth engagement, and public events, SOFAFEA's America 250 Program aims to honor the nation's founding principles and our ancestors’ contributions, while fostering civic responsibility and national pride leading up to nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4th, 2026.

The Society's Forgotten Patriots Project is a scholarly initiative dedicated to uncovering and honoring the overlooked Americans of African and Indigenous descent who played vital roles in the founding and development of the United States. Led by authors, historians, scholars, and descendants, the project draws on rigorous research to reevaluate and recontextualize these marginalized figures, restoring their rightful place in the national narrative. By illuminating the lives and contributions of these forgotten heroes and unsung heroines, the project deepens public understanding of America’s diverse origins and enriches our shared historical legacy.
